On April 3, 2025, the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, signed a decree that officially reduces the period of visa-free stay of Ukrainian citizens in the country from three years to one. The details of the changes are described below.

New rules of entry and stay for Ukrainians in Georgia

According to the official decree, Ukrainians will be able to stay in Georgia without a visa for one year. Those who entered the country before February 24, 2025, will have their stay extended until February 24, 2026.

It should be noted that before that, Georgia gradually extended the visa-free period for Ukrainians: in February 2023, the period was 2 years, and in April 2024, it was extended to 3 years. However, now the visa-free stay in the country is limited to 1 year.

Ukrainians who plan to stay in Georgia for a long time will have to legalize their status by obtaining residence permits, in accordance with the grounds for their stay.
