Ukraine and Spain signed a Joint Declaration on the establishment of the Ukrainian Unity Hub, a support center for refugees. It will help Ukrainians adapt, receive educational, consular and economic services. Learn more about the initiative and its significance
Oleksiy Chernyshov, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of National Unity of Ukraine, signed a Joint Declaration with Elma Sais Delgado, Minister of Inclusion, Social Protection and Migration of Spain, on the establishment of the Ukrainian Unity Hub in Spain.
This center will provide Ukrainians who have found refuge in Spain with additional opportunities for social adaptation, integration and maintaining ties with their homeland. According to Chernyshev, more than 220,000 Ukrainian citizens have already been granted temporary protection in Spain, and the creation of this hub will be another important step to support them.
Spain became the third country with which the Joint Declaration on the establishment of the Center for Unity of Ukraine was signed. Similar initiatives are already being implemented in Germany and France. In particular, on February 15, a Joint Declaration of Intent was signed to open the first Ukrainian Unity Hub in Berlin, and later in Munich and Dusseldorf. On March 26, a similar agreement was signed with France.
Unity Hub functions and capabilities
Ukrainian Unity Hubs will perform a number of important functions, including:

The creation of the Ukrainian Unity Hubs is part of a larger initiative being implemented by the National Unity Agency, which was established by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on January 24. This agency will work to expand opportunities for Ukrainians abroad and support the Ukrainian community in different countries.
Thus, the opening of the Ukrainian Unity Hub in Spain will be an important step in strengthening support for Ukrainian citizens abroad and will help them integrate into local society while maintaining close ties with Ukraine.
We remind you! Spain is among the top five EU countries that have received the largest number of refugees from Ukraine. Although it is a developed country with a high standard of living, high inflation has significantly affected prices in Spain. Read more about the cost of living in Spain in 2024.
